The Role
We're seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team as a key technical contributor. This role offers significant autonomy and responsibility, working directly with our principal engineer on municipal infrastructure projects. You'll be instrumental in taking projects from concept through to construction, with opportunities to grow into project coordination and client-facing responsibilities.
This position is ideal for an experienced technologist who values independence, wants to expand their skill set beyond drafting, and is ready to become an integral part of a growing local firm.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings and designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D for drainage, site servicing, and municipal infrastructure projects
Conduct field inspections and site visits with minimal supervision, documenting conditions and coordinating with contractors
Perform engineering analysis and calculations to support design decisions
Coordinate project deliverables and communicate with clients, municipalities, and consultants
Review and check technical drawings for accuracy and compliance with standards
Support project management activities including scheduling, budgeting, and quality control
Mentor junior staff as our team grows
Required Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized Canadian institution
Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) certification or eligibility
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design and construction, with demonstrated expertise in municipal infrastructure
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D—you should be comfortable creating complex grading plans, utility designs, and construction drawings independently
Proven track record of conducting site inspections and field reviews
Valid BC Driver's License and reliable transportation
Strong foundation in BC Building Code, municipal design standards, and engineering best practices
Demonstrated stability in previous positions with a commitment to professional growth
Nice to Have
Project coordination or management experience
Familiarity with Chilliwack and Fraser Valley development processes
Experience with stormwater management design
Construction administration background
Community involvement in Chilliwack or surrounding areas
