Civil Engineer in Training

We are seeking a motivated and talented Civil Engineer-In-Training to join our team in Chilliwack, British Columbia. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting senior engineers in the design, planning, and construction of civil engineering projects, ensuring that each project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will:

Under direct supervision of Engineer of Record, assist in designing and planning civil engineering projects, including site investigations, data collection, and analysis including:

  • Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications for civil engineering projects including storm, sanitary and water system design.

  • Conduct fieldwork, including site inspections and construction supervision;

  • Assist with project management tasks, including project scheduling and budget tracking;

  • Provide technical support to project team members, including contractors and consultants;

  • Ensure that all work complies with applicable laws, regulations, and codes;

  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal writing, client meetings, and presentations;

  • Assist with progress payments and coordinating other professionals.

You shall have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation or eligibility for EIT designation in British Columbia;

  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of Civil Engineering experience in design and construction inspection

  • Or recently graduated from University

  • Have some practical knowledge of BC Building Code;

  • Strong technical skills, with experience in the design and construction of civil engineering projects, including stormwater management, water distribution, and sanitary collection design;

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to clients, stakeholders, and team members;

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical and logistical issues;

  • Strong understanding of Storm water management, Water Network Design and Waste water collection design principles;

  • Experience in Onsite Waste Disposal system design;

  • Strong interpersonal skills such as reliability, professionalism, and team player;

  • Strong experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, PCSWMM, HEC RES, and other civil engineering software;

  • Willingness to work in both field and office environments;

  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel to project sites;

  • Committed to meeting deadlines and delivering the project at the highest quality; and

  • Motivated to learn and grow with the team.
